HubNuggets Down Under: The Return of HubNugget Hank
69Wanted Dead or Alive
When you last visited your beloved HubNugget team, we were procuring Wannabes from the furthest reaches of the Nebula System in the HP galaxy. We were tired, we were hungry, and some of us were more than a little cranky (I never did get my fries and gravy. More on that in a minute.).
As you know, we successfully completed our mission, and Captain Shirley delivered a stellar hub for your reading and voting pleasure. All in all, it was a great day in space. If only that were the end of the story.
We were all up on the bridge, celebrating a job well done. We weren’t too far from a Hubby’s drive-thru, and Captain Shirley had decided that my fries and gravy request was sounding pretty good. I was already salivating in anticipation as she gave the order to change course and go to warp factor 9, but before she could finish her sentence…
*Radio crackle and white noise from the ship’s communicator*
“Commander Maddie Ruud to Starship Hubbertise…come in Hubbertise! Urgent!”
These urgent communiqués usually came at the beginning of a mission, so we were all a little surprised to be hearing from Hubfleet Command at this point.
*More crackling*
“I repeat…I have an urgent dispatch for the Hubbertise. Come in Captain Shirley!”
“Captain Shirley, here. Go ahead commander.”
“Shirley, you and your team have done a fantastic job with this mission, and we know you’re all exhausted, but there’s been a break-in at Hubfleet Command. The Potential HubNugget report has been stolen, and the perpetrator was seen boarding a Qantas jet. Oh…and did I mention he looks an awful lot like a platypus?”
“HubNugget Hank” captain Shirley cursed under her breath.
Hank had faded into relative obscurity within hours of his debut. He obviously wanted to grab some attention now, and what better way to grab headlines than to grab the HubNugget report?
“Mr. Evilpants!” the captain barked. “Set a course for Earth and hightail it down to the transporter room pronto! We’re beaming down to Australia and we will catch your little web-footed friend!”
Back On Earth
This mission is so critical that Maddie and Jason joined the team in Australia to coordinate operations. For security reasons, Hubfleet Command officials always travel in pairs, so the Kangaroo disguise was obviously the right choice.
Captain Shirley acted quickly. Cleverly disguising herself as a Kukaburra, she took up a bird's-eye view from a nearby old gum tree. If that platypus was in the vicinity, he would certainly not escape the captain's steely gaze.
Not to be outdone, RedElf donned her Koala disguise. She had been saving it for just such an occasion, and was eager to get to her eucalyptus tree. Don't let those sleepy eyes fool you. If Hank comes this way, he's toast!
Patty Inglish, promoted to science officer for this mission, hit the ground running flat out like a lizard drinkin'. Literally. She has an uncanny knack for finding just the right disguise, and her goanna persona offered the right combination of camouflage and agility to get the job done. She would be equally at home in the trees, on the ground or in the billabongs where Hank is known to hang out.
Zsuzsy Bee's echidna disguise affords safety in the event of an aerial attack from an unscrupulous platypus, while that sensitive snout helps to sniff out the purloined potential Nuggets. Brilliant, Zsuzsy!
Wombats are a pretty common sight along the roads here, so Ripplemaker's disguise fits right in. She can watch the roads for platypus activity without calling attention to herself.
I have taken the hardest, most mentally demanding job of all. HubNugget Hank is a known lover of adult beverages and has been recently spotted at numerous drinking establishments throughout the area.
While disguised as a run of the mill kangaroo, I have the unenviable task of hopping from pub to pub and posing as a patron. I think the pub crawl technique is our best chance of capturing this villain. It's a dangerous game, but I think I'm up to the job.
Target Acquired
I put in a lot of hours, every one of them fraught with danger, going from one pub to the next; drinking beer after beer. But in the end, it was the keen nose of our security chief that led to Hank's lair. Way to go, Zsuzsy! She tracked him to his sub-aquatic casino and we sprang into action.
*Classic Star Trek dramatic fight scene music*
Science officer Patty's training paid off. Even in her goanna disguise she was able to catch Hank off guard with a flip kick. Zsuzsy and RedElf held him down while Commander Shirley grabbed the dossier.
I acted with lightning reflexes, sprinting for the buffet. If Hank had buried the remaining Nugget categories there, I would find them; even if I had to eat every last shrimp on the buffet. It turned out they weren't buried in the shrimp, so I moved on to the lobster tails. In the end, I recovered the the other 18 categories from under a large pile of Marmite. I should have known. Nobody ever touches the Marmite!
Bringin' Home The Nuggets
With the potential HubNugget report safely aboard the Hubbertise, I was charged with delivering the polls to the hubbing public. Now it's in your hands. We've done the hard part, now all you have to do is read and vote.
If you're a Wannabe, don't let that hub stay behind a Klingon cloaking device! Get out there and promote! Flip open that communicator and get the word out!

Wow. Hubnugget nominated. I've been Hubnuggeted. Hubnuggetdome. Or is it Hubnuggetness? Maybe I'm just Hubnuggety. Whatever the case, I'll take the complement. Good luck everyone.
Thank you for letting all of us know that they were ready, this is a great group of choices as always. :)
Hi! I've just learned that I'm a Wannabe, and am absolutely thrilled! Never in a month of Sundays did I expect anything like this.
Truly an honour. Thank you to everyone involved
And the very best of luck to my fellow wannabes!
These were great reads - and a SHOE hub, too! Congratulations to all the nominees! Thanks so much for a great story, too, Mr. Evilpants.
Yes, Mr. Evilpants, as excited as I was, I forgot to mention your story: A very entertaining read. Love it! Gave me a good laugh on this sleepless night.
I'm very excited about my nomination! I've been reading all these hubs and they are great. I'm in good company! ;)
Ripplemaker, disguise as a wombat, stealthily snoops around to see if she can visit the hubs without a fuss. hahahaahah wonderful hub BT! :)
I am thrilled and humbled at being nominated. I also was very unsure what to do afterwards but here I am! Some great content in all categories!
What a great hub! and what a great bunch of articles! Congratulations to all the authors! I voted!
I am very happy for the nomination, but have no idea how to promote the hub, so I will leave it in God's hands. In the meantime I will read all the other hubs nominated and vote, hopping other hubbers will do the same.
The best of luck to all the nominees
Ann and Petra...yes some hubbers find it uncomfy promoting their hubs to their family and friends. Well it is understandable. But it is actually allowed. No spamming in the forums though. Just an idea: email the link to this hub and tell them which hub is yours...or they can read all the hubs and vote for which one they like best. The more votes, the merrier right? Or if you belong to facebook or other social networking sites or have a blog, just share it. That would be great. Have fun with the Hubnuggets.
Great crop again, and well done B.T. - we all really appreciate the supreme sacrifice you made tackling the buffet for us. I don't think you missed one lobster tail. I checked twice, just in case. I did manage to find a few sprigs of parsley, though.
I loved the bear suit, by the way, but tourists kept getting in the way of my shots (photos) trying to feed me leaves - most distracting. I'll have to try for something less cute and cuddly next time.
Voted! Super fun hub!
You did a great job on this Hub and picking the new wannabes.
Thanks so much to all of you for all of your hard work, dedication and efforts. I really enjoy looking forward to meeting new writers and topics. It's a win, win for all!
Many Thanks,
Sage
B.T. how are you feeling? Dear me, you actually got through all that marmite, wow you need a medal for that alone...and all that beer (how does the Foster compare to our beer here) I still don't know how you did it but you sure were and are the hero in this latest escapade of ours.
As far as the echidna disguise, I've always been know to be prickly so that disguise became second nature in a flash. Remind me next time to get different glasses though, as these ones keep slipping off that beautifully streamlined weapon disguised as a snout.
I feel so great that we were able to save the hubnugget report. Good luck to all of you hubnuggeteers.
I loved the fun hub and I have voted
Well I'm definitely not feeling warm and fuzzy about this adventure. I'm still reeling from Patty's flip kick, and B.T. decimated my buffet. It's a good thing I didn't put out the fresh lobster tails. B.T. ate the ones I bought from some guy in a rusty old van.
I'm pretty bitter about the whole thing, but I just couldn't stop myself from voting. These new hubbers are great!
@ Zsuzsy--I happen to know that B.T. never touches Foster's. He was drinking VB (Victoria Bitter) the whole night.
wahooie... I was looking out for this week hubnuggets! Thanks x
Fantastic collection of wannabes today. I have done the voting and am looking forward to seeing who wins! Well done for the hard work the team puts into this - you are appreciated! x
[flip, flip, flip]
Oh, sorry about the bar and buffet disection! I should have removed the ice skate before flip-kicking, but if John "The Showman" Bowman could do it, so can I. Now to perfect the back-wheel salchow kick through 8 lobster tails while catching the halves in my mouth...
A grand bunch of HubNugget Wannabee Hubs this week, by the by! I've voted on my way'round [flip, flip, salchow, lobster, flip].
I'm thrilled to be in such company! There are so many awesome finance hubs out there. This is like, wow. Thank you.
Excellent report of our mission, Commander Evilpants! I'm glad to see that you've recovered from your dangerous pub crawl, I know how disdainful that type of undercover work can be. All that beer, you poor thing!
All of our crew did an amazing job, the HN team rocks, big time! They look darn good in their costumes, too. HubNugget Hank will think twice before trying to steal our nuggets again.
A little marmite in gravy is acceptable. A mound is a crime against humanity, blech!
Congrats to all of our Wannabes!! Good luck to you all and don't forget to promote your nominated hub.
By the way, I've cast my votes.
great job and effort here, voted!
Yayyyy put my vote in.
Just voted! Great choices of new wannabes.
Alright, I voted. I had lots of laughs this week, congrats all nominees.
Thanks for the great reading!
I voted by trout
Voted and voted :)
Hooray and thanks for the nomination. This is cool and I'm out there voting on the others too!
Your story here is hilarious, B.T. Evilpants. Really loved it!
And the nominees (Wannabes) are fantastic. I've enjoyed reading all the Hubs, and have voted.
Great work you all do here, HubNuggets Team!
All the best, Camlo
I'm still unsure of what a HubNugget is, but I am thrilled to be in the running! I'm just pleased that there's actually people reading what I write. This is just great. :)
I really have been missing out.
voted and good job, evilpants! Maita
Congratulations to all the winners and runners -up!
And thank you, HubNuggets Team, for choosing me as a nominee; it was great fun!
That was fun. I gained many new fans and got a lot more hits to my hubs. Thank you to whomever nominated me.
